In all areas of law, a Solicitor’s job is to represent their client’s best interests – but in no area is this more pertinent than in Clinical / Medical Negligence. Prosperity Law’s Clinical Negligence team is led by Jane Lynch – an expert legal practitioner, author, and lecturer in her field, specialising in cases related to birth trauma and brain injury. An incredibly effective litigator, Jane’s tenacity has benefited clients to the sum of millions of pounds – here’s a little more about her expertise.
A depth of expertise
Prior to joining Prosperity Law, Jane held a number of roles heading up Clinical Negligence teams for multi-national law firms. It is thanks to these decades of experience that she is a consummate solicitor and litigator. But it is the depth of Jane’s expertise that sets her apart and drives her team to strive for the very best results for clients.
An author and commentator within her field, Jane has penned three medico-legal books which were published by Radcliffe-Oxford. The ‘Essential Series’ as it’s known has become canon in the healthcare field, as well as her own, and the three installments are entitled, Clinical Responsibility, Health Records in Court, and Consent to Treatment. She has also authored numerous papers for a variety of publishers, including British Journal of Neuroscience, Royal College of Nursing, Pharmaceutical Journal, Royal College of Imaging, and Psychotherapy Journal.
This work not only showcases her knowledge but is part of Jane’s wider efforts to highlight the necessary changes within the healthcare system, based on her own experience with clients and cases. This work has been recognised through her appointment as a Fellow to the Royal Society of Medicine.
The specialist of choice for birth trauma and traumatic brain injury (TBI)
Jane’s determination for her clients is particularly important, thanks to the field she has chosen to specialise in. Jane explains:
“When it comes to brain injuries acquired by medical negligence, including birth trauma, there’s an added layer of complexity, in that the effects of the injury may not present as obviously as say, a damaged limb. There are often very real physical effects, and also psychological effects too that are not apparent and it’s understanding these different presentations and how to represent them at every stage of the legal process that makes all the difference to the outcomes.
The softer skills are just as important. Medical Negligence cases are often complex and daunting for victims and their families, and it’s my role to be as supportive as I can throughout the entire process. My approach is always to be empathetic, understanding, and try to reassure clients through my expertise and experience.”
The high stakes of clinical negligence
With the recent Birth Trauma Inquiry bringing the damaging effects of improper healthcare under higher levels of public scrutiny – quality medical negligence practice has never been more important. With pursuit of a medical negligence claim often the last remaining option for affected individuals and their families – these complex cases need to be taken forward by a specialist team, like that of Prosperity Law. We hold Clinical Negligence Accreditation from the law society ensuring your case is being dealt with by an expert team.
